Marketing exhibition tips
Merely being at an exhibition is not enough – you have to really promote yourself before, during and after the show. Here’s some tips to help you create a marketing success story
Promote your presence
Even before the exhibition opens, make your existing clients know that you are going to be there. Talk about the products you will be promoting and where your stand is located. Make sure they know when and where the show is being held. An exhibition is the perfect opportunity to catch up with existing clients and meet new ones.
Email marketing
Send out an email newsletter one week before the show opens to let everyone know you will be there. Give details of any special promotions available only at the show, competitions, products, prize draw and any special stand features.
Social media
Use all your social media and business channels to promote your presence. Social media can drive visitors to your stand. Engage with attendees on Twitter as well as via your website. Make sure that your Twitter feed is kept constantly updated with news of your participation before, during and after the show.
Create a hashtag
Create a special hashtag for your stand. It’s a great way to highlight your presence and host special promotions. Make sure it is easy to remember and quick to use. Add it to banners, graphics and all handouts. Follow any official show hashtags to keep updated with the latest news, as well as benefiting from any exhibition community involvement.
QR codes
Worth considering if you want to reduce the cost of printed materials. Add a QR code to your stand. This can be quickly scanned by visitors, giving quick access to your website or a special Pdf presentation.
Stand design
Remember the 3 second rule. You have three seconds to capture visitor attention before they walk past. Those three seconds have to be made to count by communicating everything they need to know from your message to what you do and what you are offering. Good eye catching visuals are essential, along with branding and overall stand design.
Giveaways
Make any giveaways relevant, interesting and useful. You want to make sure that visitors are going to keep the item and use it time and time again. Any giveaway product should include a prominent logo and brand name.
Follow up
Don’t let your marketing slip after the exhibition. Follow up every lead within a week, this will give you a better chance to turn them into sales.
